Concept (Social)
Roughly stated, conceptual photography is a genre of photography that is staged to represent an idea. This idea is often called the “concept” and research is used to both define it and construct the imagery around it. This type of photography typically results in a series of images that when viewed together will give the audience a greater understanding or view into the concept (idea) being pursued by the artist. The term “concept” can vary wildly, but for the purposes of this assignment we will be focusing on concepts that are social/cultural in nature - meaning the ideas behind each student’s concept may be important to them personally (and even approached in that manner), they should be of a larger social/cultural significance and concern.
